Debugging My Daily Energy: A Gut Health Log
Redesigning a website is easy. Redesigning my body at 28 is a different story.
I’ve been working remotely for over three years. That means long hours sitting at a desk—or, let's be honest, slumping in bed with a laptop on my lap pretending it's an ergonomic setup.
Outside of work or during weekends, I love staying active with the gym, running, hiking, and sports. But as I got closer to 30, there seems to be something missing or something that I need to start considering. Working out alone wasn't cutting it anymore—focusing on my gut health turned out to be the ultimate redesign.
What I Started Doing
To make that shift, I made a few simple adjustments to my daily routine:
Daily Supplements: I added prebiotics and probiotics to support my digestion.
Smart Swaps: I started trading a few of my daily coffees for kombucha or tea (though I definitely still enjoy my morning coffee).
Intermittent Fasting: I began fasting a few days a week to give my digestive system a regular break.
What I Personally Noticed
It didn't happen overnight, but once I stayed consistent, I started feeling so much better:
Focus & Energy: I had fewer afternoon slumps, less brain fog, and noticeably less bloating throughout the workday.
Workouts & Sports: I felt like my recovery and stamina improved during runs, gym sessions, and weekend hikes.
Daily Habits: I experienced much steadier daily energy instead of constantly relying on five cups of coffee just to stay awake.
We spend a lot of time decorating our workspaces, updating our workout gear, and trying to stay productive. But I’ve realized that none of that matters if your internal foundation is off. Nurturing your gut isn't just a trend—it’s the baseline for how you start and end your day. When your digestion is supported, everything else just runs a lot smoother.
This blog is where I document my personal logbook—simple routines, easy habits, and real-life tests for active desk workers (and bed-workers). I’m not a doctor, just someone sharing how much better I felt after making this shift, in case it helps you on your own journey.
How about you? Have you figured out what works for your daily routine, or are you still in the process of debugging?
Peace, Gab.
